Update BlackBerry O.S 10.2 Rolls Out in Indonesia

Euphoria for BlackBerry O.S 10.2 update is finally arrived at Indonesia, by tonight, BlackBerry 10 users especially for BlackBerry Z10 users get O.S update from 10.1 to 10.2. Though some of users report that they cannot start to update their Z10 (it is said that the update server is unreachable), but most are getting the update for their Z10.

For Z10 which sold for Southeast Asia region, the O.S will be updated to 10.2.0.415 version, but for Z10 which bought from other regions, such as middle east or africa, the O.S will be updated to10.2.0.424 version.

So, if you stay in Indonesia and use local carrier there, I'm sure that you already get the notification, or, if the notification about software update never came out in your BlackBerry Hub, you can go to Setting and enter the Software Update section and push the update button to get the update.

The file size for the update is depended on your previous O.S version. If your Z10 previous O.S is 10.1, the file size will be around 800 MB - above 1 GB. If the previous O.S is 10.2, you can expect the updated file size around 7 MB to 600 MB.

Before you start the update, please make sure your Z10 battery capacity is above 20%, otherwise the software update will be not executed. Keep maintain the battery capacity above 20% to make sure the software update process runs smoothly and seamlessly. Don't forget to backup your data first before executing the software update.

After the update is done, perhaps you will find that one or several of your applications needs to update via BlackBerry World.

BlackBerry, Doomed or Reincarnate?

I have a big interest about how BlackBerry will in the future, not because I have it shares, No I don't have any, but for the ability that I never found in any platforms such as handling .eml attachment (in BlackBerry Hub),  best virtual keyboard, or smart switching for the internet connection. Yes, I never found the same ability in others. As a pure BlackBerry user, I feel that it will be difficult for me or any hardcore BlackBerry users to switch to other platforms, though, in fact, I do use Android (on my Nexus 4 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1) daily right now. But, if BlackBerry comes to its end, soon or later, I will choose another platform as my primary smartphone (IOS, Android, or Windows Mobile).

So, after couple months I didn't write a single post,  I think it is the right time for me to start it again, especially when the news of the BlackBerry's death is crossing through the internet. Well, as all we know that Fairfax already submit their bid to buyout BlackBerry for about USD 9/shares. But what the news spread all over the internet is BlackBerry is already sold or even some haters said, BlackBerry is already dead. Yes, to lost 1 Billion Dollars will make BlackBerry sinking fast. Yes, they will cut their 40% workers to reach break even point (let's say it supposed to be like that). But do these things will make BlackBerry comes to live again? I don't think so.

As what I read from one of CrackBerry posting and the source from one of The Globe and Mail article, I think I get a clearer point of view why "shit" happened to BlackBerry.

First, BlackBerry has split into 2 opposite idea, even when Heinz took the CEO chair. In my opinion, these 2 idea is not only opposite but contradictive to each other (you need to read those 2 articles that I've point out before read this article). Can it combine into one or a single great idea? I don't know, but let's say "maybe yes, but possibly no".

Second, BlackBerry needs teams that can work together, a tradition that all for one and one for all, see consumers as partners, someone to hold, not as a market target, someone who buy our product and hold for one or two years. And after that, we sold another product to them.

Third, never ever judge what your consumers need from your point of view only. Try to blend with them, get yourself to be the consumer, and find out the best solution between consumers needs and company objective. If there is no way out for the win win solution, let your consumer desires win first. Then after your consumer satisfy enough (where 60-75% of your consumers don't have any big complain for the product or services), you can encourage them to follow the company objective but still keep listen to your consumer's needs.

BlackBerry 10 is good O.S for sustaining BlackBerry's life actually. But lack of great apps makes this O.S soon or later be abandoned by its consumers. BlackBerry Hub is good, but needs many improvements to become easier to use. BlackBerry also needs to lower their handset price from the beginning. Yes, this will make the profit margin ticker than expected, but written off handset in the warehouse is more awful than any others. BlackBerry also needs to see where and when they can get traction when they release the product. The C Level needs to prioritize the launching in the region or country where BlackBerry market is still big and grows. Never ever compete the product with favorable one. Better for BlackBerry to fight in middle to low end of smartphone market.

But once again, BlackBerry 10 needs support from many big developers who has killer apps (give them incentives, best offer that they cannot refuse). Last words, if Fairfax finally buys BlackBerry, I suggest them to overcome the internal tradition. BBM cross platforms shall be launched ASAP with full features (enabled to do voice and video chat over mobile network, and ofcourse BBM Channel). Yes, it will be halted Blackberry handsets sales, but this will make great revenue for BlackBerry if they can monetize it. There are so many ways to monetize BBM, not only by selling space for marketing campaign, but by selling gimmics such as stickers, games, multimedia (songs and movies), money transfers, etc (they need to figure it out ASAP). Lower the price of their handset (they shall do this immediately), continue to develop BlackBerry 10 by enriching it using TAT (why BlackBerry bought TAT if they never use it to enriching BlackBerry 10), and try to figure out what others products that BlackBerry 10 can fit (example Multi purpose portable Head Unit for Cars, or interactive screen for our kitchen).

So BlackBerry, I hope you can pass this big storm and stand still for the future. Otherwise, I will lose the tools I'd love forever. Don't die, will you!!

What Do You Want From A BlackBerry Z10?

After official launching on Jan 30th 2013, BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry Z10 as the first product enter the battle of smartphone industry, there are pro and contra opinions come out from various sources. From media, analysts, users, and competitors. All opinions are collided and sometimes making a potential user of Z10 confused, which one is right and which one is wrong.

Some says Z10 gets trouble in battery, but others say it doesn't. Some says BlackBerry 10 is not what he/she expects but others say satisfy with BlackBerry 10. Opinions depend on many factors. And you cannot judge others' opinions based on your opinions. Confuse? of course, even I myself get confuse :D

Before you purchase a Z10 or Q10 (later on), I suggest you to ask yourself again, What do you want from a BlackBerry Z10? What makes you choose this smartphone? What is the main key for this purchasing? This kind of question is a common question when you want to buy something. If you never ask this such question to yourself, be prepare to get dissappointment because you purchase something that possibly you don't need.

So, in Z10, you will get something that maybe a rather different than any smartphone. What is that? Buttonless. That's for sure. Is this bothering you? Maybe yes and maybe no. But truly, it bothers most of users at the first time. You need to spend sometimes with your Z10. BlackBerry Z10 is a gesture smartphone if I may say that. All your activities on Z10 counts on gestures you make. Swiping bezel and screen is the main key not only to navigate but also to make some actions on your Z10. Once you get use to the gestures, you will try to practice it to others smartphones.

Honestly, if you want a smartphone for emails, browsing internet, get connected and exist with most of your social media accounts (not all social media applications are available for Z10 right now), edit/writing documents, play with pictures, etc, I think Z10 is well capable, even I think is the best, to do that. In fact, in my line of sight, no other smartphones provides you with wide range of default apps and basic features such as what you can get in Z10. Even to compare with a product that claims to be a business smartphone, Z10 is still over the top.

But, if you want a wide range of third party applications available for you to use, I think Z10 is not the best choice right now. Remember, Z10 uses BlackBerry 10 which notices to be a brand new of Operating System. Many developers especially for big developers do still wait and see for this BB10. They want to be sure that the market are good welcoming this O.S first before they start to built native apps for BB10. And again, I think it's normal for this business industry.

If you still insist to purchase Z10 and find difficulties in using it, I suggest you to minggle at BlackBerry forum or subforum which can be found easily at search engine. Better to ask than to bash. If you have any difficulties and bash BlackBerry 10 or Z10 in BlackBerry forums or subforums, absolutely you will get "hot" replies and cannot get any solutions for your needs, except you purchase and use Z10 only to bash this product (What BlackBerry ever did so you are so angry?).

Do some research first before purchasing something and try to seach the solutions before you complaint about the product. And one thing for sure, BlackBerry keeps listening to all your concern and complaints regarding their new product, BlackBerry 10 and Z10.

Mercedes-Petronas-BlackBerry, What a Outstanding Brand Collaboration

Well, BlackBerry seems to be so serious in getting their brand back to the top level. BlackBerry management already decided to be a sponsor of one of F1 Big Team, Petronas Mercedes.

Though BlackBerry is just a secondary sponsor (first of course, Petronas), but still many of us can see big BlackBerry name marked at one of hot spots within Petronas Mercedes F1 Cars, at team uniforms and accessories, and at every Pertronas Mercedes merchandise.

I hope BlackBerry will be a sponsor for one of Moto GP team too :) and I'm sure, it will make greater impact for BlackBerry marketing campaign.

Long live BlackBerry! And keep moving BlackBerry 10! Cause we believe you can!

HONK! If You Want BlackBerry 10.

BB 10 HOW TO: Using NFC and Smart Tag on BlackBerry 10

Near Field Communication is one of the way for us to communicate and share everything we want and need to share. From pictures to video, from website article to worksheet. NFC brings another color for it.

For I myself, I seldom to use NFC since many of my friends and I also, are not so familiar and know a lot about how to maximize the NFC and NFC Tag.

But, when I see this How To Video about NFC and NFC Tag, I think, this technology can bring much advantageous in sharing, not only files but almost everything.

Actually, there are many options and ways about how we can personalize our BlackBerry 10 handset. From changing the picture of appearance, making folder and collect similar function of apps to get into a folder, changing font size, changing the ring tone, etc.

What about themes or deep customizing of BlackBerry 10 appearance? So far, we don't see any option for this in BlackBerry 10. But, who knows we can see any extreme or out of box way to personalize and customize our Blackberry 10 O.S

This is so impressive, I find from crackberry and BBin that Blackberry 10 Training Slide Show leaked has come to both of the websites. When I do deep dig, the source is coming from one of crackberry member kifac yesterday. And Truly, I don't realize this post until Crackberry and BBin posted it in their blogs.

So, in my opinion, it's awesome. The presentation is plain, straight to the heart, and focusing on all feature aspects that Blackberry 10 has. According to the source, this is the presentation training for Rogers salesperson. So, they need to get deep knowledge about Blackberry 10 for making Blackberry 10 firesales.

And here it is, the Blackberry 10 Training Slide Show. Hope you enjoy it.

File Manager On Blackberry 10

File Manager on Blackberry 10 gives you fully access to reach your files within external and internal storage plus files that you already sync on Box and Dropbox accounts. Truly, this is the new way of how native file manager shall be. Combining offline and online storage makes you feel that you bring your laptop or PC at your pocket. And you can compress your files and folder without having to install any 3rd party application.

16 GB internal storage + up to 32 GB external storage (micro SD) + 5 - 50 GB online storage from Box + 2.5 - 48 GB online storage from Dropbox. And The result is you have an extravagant storage at your Blackberry 10 handset (120 GB++).

So, if you are worry about the availability of Box and Dropbox for Blackberry 10, you don't need to worry anymore. Because Box and Dropbox are not coming as third party (need to download from Blackberry World) but those are blended into Blackberry 10 O.S itself. That's the main key.

Voice Control for Blackberry 10

Well, perhaps you all already saw what the voice control for Blackberry 10 looks like. In my opinion, the voice control for Blackberry 10 is the advancing of what previous Blackberry has. But, for now, the voice control is enriched with visual style.

Please don't expect that you can have chat with the voice control. This feature is very useful for you while you are driving. You can still make a phone calls by using your voice, send sms or email by using your voice too. Search the best restaurant for your important dinner when you don't have time to stop and browse the internet.

And I don't think that you want to have date with your own phone right? So please stop expecting that from voice control for Blackberry 10, for now. Btw, the supporting language at voice control is still limited right now. I hope this will expand at the Final OS.

Maps on Blackberry 10

Maps on Blackberry 10. Is there any special in it? If we look glimpse at it? No, there is no special case there. All you can see is plain Maps. A simple one. But, because the simplicity, the load time is fast. What I want from Maps app is to mark the sites where I'm in charge. And I can do that perfectly.

Place marking will be the the main feature that Blackberry Maps can offer you, besides the simplicity I guess.

So, please see for yourself down below.

PS: This was taken from non Final Blackberry 10 OS.
