Netflix updated their iOS apps last week. I always get nervous when an app that we have certified gets an update. We will be able to re-certify it? Well I am happy to report that this great app still works! The heart of the app is the ability to stream movies to iOS devices. It is the best at getting the most of your bandwidth and the update did not change that. 

The user interface was the biggest change. The update date made the controls very minimalistic. The controls for the actual video player did not change. 

If you haven't tried Netflix on your iPad yet you should check it out. The Netflix app was originally tablet certified on 10-31-11 (click for review). The app runs very well on the iPad over wifi even bad airport connections.

Here is a link to one of my favorite streaming shows on Netflix. Mad Men is currently one of the best shows on TV. The writing, amazing attention to detail, and great story telling make it like flipping through an expensive coffee table book about New York in the 1960's.

I have been obsessed with this app since I ran across it about a week ago. It is a simple concept. Take a short video, then combine a static shot from the video with the motion of the video. The result is:

 

AMAZING!

The images can be downloaded from the Cinemagram as a giff file and embedded in any web site. I just used one in our current iPhone app.

This app is fun, free, and functional (runs like a charm on my iPhone 4S). What else can you ask for in an app. For your next family day have a picnic and take along this App. Your kids will love it and your Geek cred will go through the roof.

Instagram is an iPhone app for sharing photos. You interact with other iPhonographers, tag the photos and build a following. It's a lot of fun. Instagallery is a client app that lets you view your Instagram gallery as well as the feed of those you follow, photos you "like" and photos on the "popular" page. You can search for users or tags and build galleries that let you view, comment and tag photos on the big iPad screen. 

There are many Instagram client apps, but this one is a must-have.

This is a great app to show off your iPad2. It takes a time lapse pictures with the camera and converts them to .MOV(Quicktime) movies that should play on any Apple device. You can adjust the the time lapse from 0.5 seconds to 1 full day. I posted a sample video of my cat below. Great party trick!
