Pricing rumors on the Surface are coming out. It looks like they will cost from $599 to $799. There are also rumblings that the Surface will be WiFi only with no 3G/4G access. This is a disaster in the making. A Titanic, Hindenburg, Chernobyl kind of disaster.

Under specing these tablets is a terrible strategy. The pricing should be more in the $299 to $499 range. If the Surface gets Zuned there could be no recovery. I hope these rumors are false.

Apple's iPhone 5 is coming out before the end of the year with a bigger screen with 3G or 4G access available. This makes the length of buzz about the Surface finite. If these rumors are true the Surface could be Dead On Arrival when units ship to the stores.
