I bought this gadget so I could attach my iPhone 4S (it also works with the iPhone 4) to any standard tripod. I've been playing around with Cinemagram and needed a steadier shot. It does that perfectly but also much more. It is a minimalist stand for your iPhone. It holds the device very securely in both portrait and landscape on any flat surface. It maintains a very tight grip on your device 

On the Amazon page one of the reviewers has posted a great video showing how to use it if you want a clearer idea. This is a great example of a simple item that does a bunch.
